For the first time I’m taking part in WWW Wednesday! This is currently hosted at Taking on A World of Words. The three W’s are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently Reading:
Too Much: How Victorian Constraints Still Bind Women Today by Rachel Vorona Cote
Too Much investigates many of the ways women in our past were expected to behave, specifically having to do with many forms of expression being considered as lashing out or being unruly. It also explores how these constraints still exist in our present day, using modern examples of women who have demonstrated “hysterical” behavior and why this should not be considered the case.
I entered a Goodreads giveaway for this and eventually found it on NetGalley. I only started reading it last night, so I don’t have many thoughts on it yet. But we’ll see what happens!
Recently Read:
The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell
The Tipping Point provides many examples of the brink of something becoming big. From sneaker trends to declines in crime, Gladwell shows how the little things can become the tipping point for great changes to emerge.
This is my third Gladwell book, and I love how he takes concepts I think I know well and completelty changes my way of thinking. I find it just as interesting how his views of “Mavens” and word-of-mouth advertising reflect how products sell today.
You can read my full review on my Goodreads here.
Up Next:
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
The Picture of Dorian Gray, an originally controversial novel at its time of publication, features a man who sells his soul in exchange for eternal youth and beauty.
I can’t wait to finally get to reading this book! This is a classic that I’ve wanted to read for years now and I anticipate that it will be one of my favorites.
That’s all for this week’s WWW Wednesday. Leave a comment if you participated this week too so I can read your post – or let me know what you’re currently reading below!
I’m glad you liked Gladwell! I’ve read a few of his as well but not that pick. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
Thank you for hosting the tag! Happy reading 🙂
I have read 2 Gladwell books so far. I like them but don’t love them and am thinking that maybe his writing is not for me. Which one of the 3 you have read has been your favorite so far? I love the classics! I too will be reading some Oscar Wilde later this month. Enjoy! Here’s my WWW: https://greatmorrisonmigration.wordpress.com/2020/04/15/www-wednesdays-april-15-2020/
So far I read Blink, David & Goliath, and The Tipping Point. Blink was my favorite because I thought it had the most action items for the reader, while the other ones were more demonstrating examples. I’ve got a lot of classics I want to read coming up too 🙂
Based on that, I think I will enjoy Blink as well, so I will try to get to that soon. I try to balance out my fiction and nonfiction reads. What other classics are on your list of upcoming reads?
I like to balance fiction and non-fiction too! Too many at once and it throws my reading off balance. Next up for me is Emma and Lady Chatterley’s lover, and if I can fit in another I’d love to read The Dubliners, too.
Sounds like good choices! I’ve only read Emma. James Joyce intimidates me lol.
The premise of Too Much sounds really interesting, will see if I can get my hands on a copy. I love the look of your blog!

Thank you! 🙂
I’m really curious about Too Much! I hope it’s as interesting as it sounds.
Here’s my WWW post!
Yes! So far I feel like the writing is organized in a strange way but there are lots of literary examples!
Too Much sounds really interesting, I’m gonna add that to my TBR. Thanks for sharing, I hope you have a great week!

I hope you enjoy it! Happy reading 🙂
I’ve added Too Much to my TBR – that looks amazing! I really hope that you enjoy Dorian. I read it years and years ago and loved it!

Thank you! I’m so excited to finally be picking it up this week.
Your book list looks so sophisticated at the moment! I’m kind of jealous. These aren’t anything that I would typically pick up for myself but I am super curious to hear what you think about ‘Too Much’. I love the concept behind the book.
Thank you! For some reason I was on a bit of a non-fiction kick this week.😅 So far it’s not what I thought it was – it’s kind of a mix of a memoir too, which I wasn’t expecting!
