What do you think you’ll read next?
I still think I’ve been reading quite a bit in the last week, but actually finishing my TBR this month might be a bit ambitious! Especially because I added another 800 page book to it – oops! Anyway, here’s my reading for this week.
Currently Reading:
Children of Time by Adrian Tchiavosky
The Children of Time duology follows the last of humankind and their quest to find a new planet to settle on as Earth is in ruins. They find a new planet that seems perfectly crafted for humankind. Little do they know that new masters have turned this planet from an ideal habitat to their worst nightmare.
This book has been going by fast! It has this interesting blend of being a space opera but still explaining things in scientific detail – even if it’s not researched to upmost accuracy. I’m glad that I’ll (hopefully) be reading the sequel this month too.
Recently Read:
Forest of Souls by Lori M. Lee
Forest of Souls is a YA fantasy that follows Sirscha, who is training to be the queen’s next royal spy. But after Sirscha’s best friend Saengo is killed by shamans, and Sirscha restores Saengo’s life, she is known as the first soulguide in living memory. Now, Sirscha is summoned as the only person who can confront the Spider King, and in that time it is up to her to master her new abilities to bring peace back to the kingdoms before it is too late.
I only read this in a couple of sittings! This was definitely much more of a plot-driven than character-driven book. And while that’s not usually my thing, I really liked it nonetheless!
Loveless by Alice Oseman
Loveless follows Georgia, who recently started college and has never fallen in love. She’s convinced she’ll find her happily ever after with the help of her roommate and friends, but after her plans end in disaster, she begins to question her true identity.
I really wanted to love this because it represents my identity. And while so many others felt so seen by this book (and I’m super happy for them as well!) there were portrayals of so many identities that just did not sit well with me or were straight-up problematic. I wrote my longest review ever on this book and honestly just could have kept going if I wanted to because there was so much to unpack. I’m sad that I didn’t love this book, but I’m happy for those that it helped.
Up Next:
- Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall
Hood Feminism is all about the many issues covered under feminism that are rarely prioritized. It also discusses the lack of intersectionality in much of the mainstream feminist movement and how the lack of inclusion within the movement impacts marginalized groups. This book brings those issues to light and illustrates the importance of solidarity within in order for the feminist movement to benefit more people.
The topics discussed in this book are something that I’ve been noticing the lack of in other books about feminism. That being said, I’m looking forward to reading this one so I can take these issues into consideration when seeking out other books as well.
That’s all for this week’s WWW Wednesday. Leave a comment if you participated this week too so I can read your post – or let me know what you’re currently reading below!

Children of Time sounds so interesting and I will be curious to see your review on Loveless. Even though you didn’t care for the book as much as you thought you would, it’s always great to have a lot to say. ❤️ Happy reading!
Hood Feminism sounds really nice. I hope you enjoy your reads.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to reading it very soon.
I might have to break down and buy Hood Feminism soon. I have a collection called This Bridge Called My Back that talks about women of color feminism in general but I’d like that more specific approach.

This Bridge Called my Back sounds good as well! I may have to read that one too.
I read some selections from TBCMB for a class but I’m going to read the whole thing next month.
I didn’t know Tchaikovsky did any science fiction books. I haven’t read him yet, but I’ve had Spiderlight for a while now and mean to finally get to it this year. If I’m into his writing I’ll check out Children of Time too. Have a great week!

I’m a bit of the reverse – I just knew about his science fiction! It’s been pretty addictive so far – maybe Spiderlight will have a similar approach in writing.
I really want to read Forest of Souls! I’ve also heard a lot of good things about Hood a Feminism! I’m on a long waitlist for that one. I hope you enjoy it! Happy reading!
Thank you! And I hope you can get a copy soon. Sometimes my library buys more copies later on so that’s definitely helped with the especially higher waitlists lately!
Yeah, they do that for physical but its so hard to make appts. To pick up books! So I’ve been doing ebook and they don’t get many copies of those. They have been having a hard time with publishers in regards to ebooks! It’s okay, I have plenty to read in the mean time! 😊
Oh no! At least you have a good stack in the meantime. 🖤
Definitely!! My physical TBR is out of control! lol
